Need suggestion for aerator for half acre trout pond?

Half acre trout and

I am looking to create water movement and aeration in our .  Hopefully I can find a cost effective approach that will help with winter freezing conditions in our half acre trout lake. Presently I am using a sump pump to throw water but it is more expensive to operate than I’d like.  I am thinking about using a compressor if it will work and cost less.

    Hi
    You can use what is referred to as a mixer, these are available in 3 phase 400volt or single phase 240 volt units how ever the most effective will be a three phase 400 volt unit.
    This looks like a propeller on a motor, these are normally submersible units and are very effective.

    A compressor will be moving air, much easier than moving water, as a pump does. Memphis Net and Twine carries a selection of aerators as well as fountains.

    Google "fluidyne pump stirling" It’s a type of stirling engine that uses a small temperature differential to pump liquids. Cheap and simple to make.

    Yes a compressor moving air is much more cost efficient than moving water. Depending on the depth of water there are two different type of bottom diffused aeration systems.

    A shallow pond system works best at 6 feet deep or less, using two diffusers at approx. 17 cents a day to run.

    Deeper than 6 feet will require a different type compressor to push air at the deeper water pressure and use a single diffuser. Approx cost of $ 25 dollars a month to run.
