If I use plants from the pond do I need to cycle my tank for a betta?

I hаνе a ten , іf I υѕе floating frοm ουr pond outside wіth οthеr (іt’s actually a really bіg container sort οf thing, nοt іn thе dirt) аnd leave thе tank going fοr two weeks οr something, wουld іt bе "cycled" fοr a ? And dο уου hаνе tο check thе ammonia аnd such bесаυѕе mу friend dοеѕ nοt аnd ѕhе breeds аnd ѕhе hаѕ a οf οthеr fish fοr years. Thanks!

    If your friend is a successfull breeder then your best advice pn the fish themselves would come from her.

    Every one on here is a know it all and will tell you mountains of unnecessary tasks to do for your fish to stay healthy even if they have no personal experience with them.

    The best thing would be to take your plant out of the garden and quarantine it in a bucket or something for at least a week to make sure any parasitic pests have died. They probably have some treatment to sterilize them as well if you don’t want to wait.

    The tank would be cycled for any fish. I hope you washed (clean water only) the plants before using them.

    your tank would not be cycled by adding plants … you could cycle it quicker by using gravel and/or filter media from an established tank … but considering bettas can live with 100% water changes i don’t think it will really be an issue for your fish … when i had my betta in a filtered, heated 1.5 gallon tank and i moved him to a 5 gallon tank, i just filled up the 5 gallon and dechlorinated the water, make sure the temp was within a degree or two of being the same and just put the betta in … and the betta has done just fine … in fact i have been keeping fish for almost 20 years and the only tank i have every cycled to an aquarist purist’s standards has been a shrimp tank … all other tanks, the fish have lived and thrived without traditional cycling …
