I have a fish in an outdoor pond that won't eat. It is lethargic and disinterested in food.?

Itѕ body hаѕ grown disproportionate tο іtѕ head, іtѕ seem fluffy (lіkе a whеn thеіr hair іѕ brushed backwards) аnd іt seems tο isolate itself. Itѕ features аrе red eyes, red lips аnd a pink lemonade (pink & yellow) appearance ~ 7 inches long. Mу boyfriend tοld mе (original owner) thаt thе fish morphed іntο a different look frοm іtѕ original state bυt I hаνе nο clue whаt kind οf fish іt іѕ. Rіght now I hаνе a mix οf , ?, аnd 1 small , tο mу best knowledge. I know thе nights hаνе bееn сοld recently, bυt thе οthеr fish hаνе bееn unaffected. Hеlр please, anyone!

    A fish is a cold blooded animal, meaning their metabolism is directly affected by temperature. When the temperature drops fish go into a semi-dormant state and should not be fed, otherwise it can kill them. You do not start feeding them again until it warms back up. It sounds like your fish has dropsy.

    "Dropsy usually takes one of two forms: body swells due to fluid accumulation, which causes scale protrusion, and also protrusion of the scales without the body swelling up – false dropsy. Dropsy is caused by a bacterial infection of the kidneys and other internal organs, causing fluid accumulation or even renal failure. Treatments are varied, adding salt at a rate of 20 mg/L seems to help. With modern Anti-Biotic this problem can be cured. " from aquahobby.com

    If this sounds like your fish, I’d put him in a quarantine tank and treat him. Good luck

    You might want to ask someone at a pet store to be sure, but I think fish’ metabolism slows down when it gets colder, it might be that the fish really isn’t that hungry. Talk to someone who deals with fish for outdoor ponds.

    try adding some salt to the water ! Seriously, ive heard it really livens the fish up. In fact run a search on this site using the keywords koi & add salt and it should come right up. there youll find directions, and how much salt to add.

    your fish has dropsy, its a goldfish disease and is usually fatal
    it is not contagious and was not caused by the cold
    please re-think your choice of fish, the bass will eventually damage/kill your koi and goldfish and so will the catfish, they are both predators and will suck your fishes eyes out and mutilate
    them
