When I built my backyard fish pond I dug one side lower than the other. I should have done a better job planning but was in a hurry. Now I need to figure out a way to raise the low side up to be even with the high side in order to raise the water level. What can I use and hopefully be able to do this without it overflowing.

I am planning to build an above ground fish pond in an area in front of our house between the sidewalk and our front porch. The pond size will be ten feet long by four feet wide by two feet deep and I need to build a two foot high retaining wall along the sidewalk. This is a box or frame to hold a pond liner. I think I will need to use 4″x4″ or 4″x6″ posts. There is also retaining wall lumber I have seen that is curved on the sides but flat on its sides.
This wall along the sidewalk is ten feet long and two feet high and has to hold back the pressure from about six hundred gallons of water in the fish pond. I plan to reinforce the wood by using rebar through each of the pieces of wood. I am figuring to drill holes through the posts and drive the rebar deep into the ground below the wall leaving about two feet above ground and slip the wood posts over each piece of rebar. I am thinking that driving the rebar two feet into the ground below the wall should be enough with two feet above the ground level to place the wood on. Do you think that is enough? How deep should the rebar be driven into the ground? I still have questions about what size rebar is going to be strong enough. I want to avoid getting rebar that is too big. I also wonder if I should drill the holes in the wood posts one size bigger and fill the space with a mortar or cement.
Am I approaching this in the right way? Any constructive suggestions on building this fish pond are welcome.
We are in upper Michigan where it gets really cold in the winter and our Koi pond is only eighteen inches deep. That is where we hit bedrock and could not dig deeper. I am concerned about the pond freezing in the winter. We do get a lot of snow and my understanding is it will act as insulation. The koi pond is fifteen feet long by ten feet wide. I did not put any electricity near the pond so using deicers or heaters is not really an option. Is my Koi pond in danger of freezing solid? Should I plan on moving the fish into our basement and hold them all winter in containers? I have three full size Koi fish, will they be comfortable in this size pond?
I want to purchase about one hundred gold fish to stock the small goldfish pond I just build in our yard. I am looking for an affordable source on the internet what will ship that quantity to me. I am looking to minimize shipping cost and purchase the whole quantity at once. I assume I am not eligible to purchase wholesale so I am looking for a retail source. Thanks for your suggestions.
I haven’t been able to find a good swimming hole around Eugene Oregon in the three to four years I’ve been living here. I am asking about ponds lakes or other bodies of water within about fifteen miles of North Eugene. Golf course ponds would even be good.
Anyone got a suggestion? My girlfriend and I were listening to R.E.M.’s Night Swimming when the question came up.

Do I need to plant pond iris in aquatic soil? Do I place it in a basket? What do I need to do with the two pond grass plants I ordered? Thank you for your help.

My friends Koi pond had lots of bubbles and suds a month ago. The Koi fish swam very erratically and were gasping for air. Within the week all the pond plants and Koi fish died. People would stop and admire the pond and fish because it was close to the road. My friend is thinking that a jealous person put some chlorine tablets in the pond. The reason they think this is within a few days the water became very clear like what you would expect in a swimming pool.
My question is has anyone experience somebody killing all their pond fish in this way? I know it will be hard to prove who did it even if we can determine exactly what caused this. They are concerned about their other pets and can not guess who is responsible. Who knows what evil lurks in the minds and hearts of people?
I need to replace the pond pump for our above ground Koi pond. The pump recirculates water that feeds the biofalls. The pond pump needs to be efficient, run quietly, and run twenty four hours a day. The brands I am considering are Pondmaster, Superfalls, or Whisperflo. Our Koi pond is about three thousand gallons and the pipe between the six foot high waterfall and inlet is about twenty eight feet. I really appreciate suggestions from folks with experience.
I am considering adding a waterfall powered by a solar pond pump to our small pond. The pond is about seven feet by three feet by two feet deep. What good products should I consider? I know very little about pond pumps so I appreciate any constructive advice. Since there is no sunlight at night I assume the pump will not work 24/7 unless it has batteries. Should I be concerned about that. Will it cause any problem for the pond? Are fountain pumps okay to use for a waterfall or are they different?
How can I tell which of my fish are Koi and which are goldfish? Our pond came with the house we purchased recently. The previous owner said two of the fish in the pond are Koi but I am having difficulty figuring out which ones. My fish look like a lot of the fish I see online so how do I tell them apart? I’d also like to determine what the fish are worth. The fish are great but we don’t have the time to properly care for them so we decided to fill in the pond. I’d like to sell the fish for a fair price. Even though people have offered to take them from me to use for bait, I do care for the fish so I am not willing to just give them away.

I grew up on a farm and we had a pond down in the pasture where I learned to swim. How about you?
Other than goldfish, are there fish species that will add variety to my Koi pond? I already have Plecos in addition to Koi. My pond is situated in a large greenhouse and is about twenty two hundred gallons in size. There are several filtration systems in place. One is a forty five hundred gallon per hour pump as part of a bio-filter system. The others are two thirty two hundred gallon per hour pond filter pumps.
I went swimming in a pond a few days ago and as soon as I got out I was itchy all over my body. For the last three days my skin is covered in red bumps. It started the day after I swam in the pond. The red bumps don’t itch or hurt and they look a lot like pimples.
The pond was very clean looking and I could see through the water for five or six feet. In fact I could see my feet while I was treading water.
Does anyone know what this is? Is it a parasite that was in the water? Any suggestions on what I should do?
