What types of tick sprays can I use that won’t harm the fish in our pond when they swim in the pond?

    This is a good question :) I never had a pond big enough for my dog to swim in, so it never occur to me.

    And knowing tick sprays company they would never mention if the spray solution is pond friendly, as it probably never occur to them too. I guess you need to look at the active chemical used in the spray and check their chemical properties.

    I would suggest covering the pond before spraying, and really I wouldn’t suggest spraying too close to the pond in case of run off. I remember hearing about in the "old days" they would put some sulphur in a sock, and beat it against their feet/legs to keep the ticks off. I don’t think that’s too safe to put in a pond though. Here’s a link with herbal insecticides. Try looking through that and see if there’s anything on that you could make and spray/sprinkle around the pond:

    are you sure these are ticks and not aphids There are some sprays for aphids that will not kill fish but you usually have to get them at a full line specialty garden store or via mail order . they come in a spray can and cost about $12
