What do I need to plant pond iris?

Planting pond iris

Do I need to plant pond iris in aquatic soil?  Do I place it in a basket? What do I need to do with the two plants I ordered? Thank you for your help.

    Pot up the iris in clay soil or sand. It does not need anything special. Put the top of the pot no more than an inch below the water surface and your iris will be happy.
    Do the same with the grasses.
    Quarantine the plants for a couple of weeks if they are coming from the wild or from a friend’s pond. They can have parasites or diseases if not from a pond plant store.

    you have to put it in the bottom of the pond by taking two stones and
    hold the roots in place.small stones,then you take the soil and put in around it…or you could put it into pots and then put the pots in..there are pots just for this purpose….good luck..

    HI Iris or flags can be planted as a margin plant or in water,in water you require a basket filled with soil,place plant in soil and cover with stones lower slowly in water,margin just plant along side pond if boggy all the better but they will grow anyway,Re grass if its special grass leave it grow for 12 mths and see how it is you can remove then if you require,if ordinary grass just pull out to remove.All the best John Keep it Simple

    Yes, aquatic soil would be best but you can also use small pea gravel until the pot is half full. Dig a hole in the centre for the new plant large enough to place the plant roots into the hole without bending or breaking the roots. Make sure the plant is placed 2 -3 inches below the pot lid. Submerge and place in your design scheme. I would plant the pond grass the same way. Be sure to check your PH levels. Be wary of grasses they can be invasive.
