Why are our two comet goldish swimming on bottom?

We got two two days ago and they are temporarily in a ten gallon tank. As soon as we move into our new home I plan on building a pond but that will be a while.  In the mean time I am going to get a seventy gallon tank.  For the moment, the water is perfect and I cycled the tank, but our two goldfish are always at the bottom.  If I get up close to them they start swimming around fast but never go to the surface. The tank has a hood on it with an incandescent light. There is one real and two fake plants that the goldfish use to hide behind. They don’t even surface to eat their flake food, rather they wait till it sinks.  Are these fish at risk of dying?  Are they sick or is this normal behavior for fish in a new tank?

    your fish have not yet adapted to their new home… jus have some patience for a while… once they become familiar they will start to swim around…

    fow now u r doing good.. giving them some hiding spots…

    during stress fish are likely to attacked by microorgarnisms so b careful with tht…

    also check the water params….. but i have strong feelin they have not adapted yet

    These fish like cold water. The water near the light may be too warm for them. Turn it off for a few days and see if there is a change. Also, if you poured the fish into the tank (something you should never do) they may have been injured or shocked and may take some time to recover. I’d turn the light off first.

    if the water is way too cold they will act funny all the time no matter what the other water parameters are…. but imo they are just not used to you
